One of the things I enjoy about portrait photography is seeing family resemblances, especailly from mother's to daughters.  I also love watching new moms with their newborns.

​I love this family.  I had the privilege to photograph their wedding, and now I have gotten the chance to take photos of their family!

As proof of how warm and caring this couple is, they brought some things to make the photos personal.  His little nursery is decorated in a comic book theme.  Dad loves his comic books!  It's a world unknown to me, and when I put the Superman socks down with the Marvel comics, I was politely told of my faux pas.  With passion like that, the nursery could be decorated no other way!  And I'm so glad I was able to marry the love of comics with the love of that baby.

But guess what else mama brought?  Her Curious George doll from when she was a baby, and a set of toy keys that were dad's.  And the way the sweet little babe held on to both, melted my heart.  I can only imagine what grandmas will say when they see that image!

And in a nutshell, that is why I do what I do.  Spread love and joy, one picture at a time.

She came to the studio and we did a headshot session for her to use as her beginning portfolio.  She not only has a sweet, kind air about her, I think she has that look to match.

We didn't do much with backgrounds by design, so that all the focus goes directly on to her.  And she can definitely handle being the focal point.

]]><![CDATA[Baby.  LOVE.]]>Wed, 01 Mar 2017 23:03:38 GMThttp://www.sararogersphotography.com/blog/baby-loveMy kids are now 10 and 12, and so I'm finding myself loving newborn and baby photography more and more the older my kids get.  It's so true that the years fly by.

But this little Emmy was especially precious!  She was fast asleep the whole time during our session, making it all the more peaceful and adorable.

Mom and Dad were right there during the session, too.  In addition to falling in love with babies, I love watching how carefully new parents hand their sweet ones to me, and watching them as they look down at their little ones with such love as I snap away.  Becoming a parent is just as beautiful as a newborn.

​As my outdoor sessions today have rescheduled due to the snow and below freezing temps, I remember way back (to two weeks ago) when it was beautiful and sunny outside.  

​This young man seized the opportunity for some senior pictures.  I think they turned out great!  

And as I sit here in front of my computer, wrapped in a blanket and with a space heater (yes, the studio is heated, but it’s in a drafty old house and I’m ALWAYS cold regardless of the temperature), I look at these pictures and remind myself that spring is coming.  Spring.  Is.  Coming.  

So if you’re getting the itch for warmer weather, book a session now and have that reminder on the calendar that spring is coming.  Spring.  Is. Coming.

They were a fun, laid back couple and it was such fun to meet their families as well.

They had their ceremony and reception at the Ralston Arena, and as a photographer, the light there was BEAUTIFUL!  It sure helped make my job easier.

I just love how their photos came out, and I wanted to share.  Enjoy!

This amazing family has been coming to me for years.  They have four little kiddos, and do it with style!

Mom is a teacher (and if you knew her, you'd just know she has found her true calling) and dad is a true hero, as a member of our armed forces.

And by pure coincidence, I delivered their pictures to them this year ON MOM'S BIRTHDAY!

And I couldn't be happier!

I love getting to wear jeans and sweaters again, I love being able to drink a hot latte even at 3pm (decaf, of course), and most of all, the AMAZING beauty of nature all around!

But, as many of my loyal families know, fall is when I get CRAZY busy.  So, if you've been putting off booking that session... I politely urge you to book it sooner rather than later.  There is a helpful button below.

I typlically only book 5-6 weeks out.  So often people's schedules change and we end up re-scheduling anyway.  But if you have a large family group and people coming in from out of town, I am happy to book farther out, since it is a more definite plan.

One change I have put into place is sales tax.  Now, it's already included in the price!  One more way Sara Rogers Photography is keeping it simple.

Also note, that because fall is the busy time, weekends are at a premium.  So if you book during the week, you'll not only have more days to choose from, you'll save yourself $50 as well.  Just sayin'.

They had their first baby, a sweet little guy named Hudson.  He was the perfect little model.  Barely a peep out him!  

On their way out, the parents said the shoot was fun.  Yes, a newborn photo session was fun.
