What should we wear?
Newborns: Less is more. :) I love the sweetness of a baby in the buff. Plus, if there is a collar on their shirt, their head sinks down into it, and they end up looking like a turtle. But if they have a special blanket or onesie, bring it along.
Children and Families: You can do really most anything you want, it depends on what kind of photos you're looking to get. What is more important than getting the colors to match PERFECTLY is getting the overall look, i.e., boho, chic, classy, casual, etc., across all people in the photo. So that way dad doesn't look like a farmer while mom looks like a socialite, junior looks like the unabomber and missy a princess.
I have a board on Pinterest of ideas.
Click the following themes for examples of colors and themes.

Seniors: For girls, no super short shorts, tube tops, nor tops that could show 'too much' if you're leaning forward a bit. These clothes can really limit poses. For make-up, do a LITTLE heavier than normal, but certainly not to extreme. You still want to look like you! :) And remember, it's pretty easy for me to add a little color to your face in photoshop, rather than looking over-done. Other than that, wear what you REALLY like; you will feel most comfortable and really capture your personality best. I am dreaming to do a senior girl in a beautiful prom dress at the Amtrak station. Anyone?!?!
For guys, I like to shoot guys in casual stuff. While it doesn't necessarily need to be ironed, if it looks rumpled-because-you-just-picked-it-up-off-the-floor, that's probably TOO casual. Wear what you would wear on a date with the girl you've been after since eighth grade. :)
